Description
This album collects works for piano through piano quartet by Irish composer Gerald Barry. All, except for for piano quartet, are first recordings. Performed by the Fidelio Trio (Darragh Morgan, Mary Dullea and Adi Tal) with guest artists Gerald Barry (piano on All day at home busy with my own affairs) and joined by Rose Redgrave (viola on ). The very personal liner notes are by the composer. The virtuosic Fidelio Trio (Sunday Times) have regularly appeared at the Wigmore Hall and Kings Place, also U.K. festivals including Spitalfields, Cheltenham, St. Magnus and Huddersfield. Internationally at Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre, Beijing Modern Music Festival, National Sawdust New York, Andy Warhol Museum Pittsburgh and Morrison Artists Series San Francisco. Their extensive discography includes Ravel and Saint-Sans for Resonus Classics (Gramophone Editors Choice); Philip Glass Head On & Pendulum on Orange Mountain, Korngold and Schoenberg (Verklrte Nachtarr. Steuermann) for Naxos; the complete Michael Nyman Piano Trios for MN Records; multiple releases on NMC & Delphian Records. They have been invited to give masterclasses at Peabody Conservatory, Curtis Institute and often perform Beethoven Triple Concerto, recently with KZN Philharmonic Orchestra South Africa and RT National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. They have premiered trios by Anna Clyne, Donnacha Dennehy, Ann Cleare, Simon Bainbridge, Judith Weir, Alexander Goehr, David Fennessy and Kevin Volans.
